The Ella Bay National Park (English: Ella Bay National Park ) is a national park in the northeast of the Australian state of Queensland . It is 1,329 kilometers northwest of Brisbane and 10 kilometers north of Innisfail .

The Russell River , Eubenangee Swamp and Moresby Range national parks are in the vicinity .

Flora and fauna

The area around Ella Bay is covered with tropical coastal rainforest.

There you can find a large number of different animals, e.g. B. also endangered species such as the Helmkasuar , the ordinary mist frog ( Litoria rheocola ) or the Australian frog waterfall ( Litora nannotis ). Saltwater crocodiles can be found on the beaches near the mouth of a stream . Different species of turtles also nest on the beach.

The park is part of the Coastal Wet Tropics Important Bird Area . BirdLife International gave the park this classification because it is an important habitat for the birds of the tropical rainforest in the lowlands.

Facilities and access

There are no facilities in the park itself, but the Cassowary Coast Region administration has set up a campground near the park.

The national park is accessible from Innisfail via Fly Fish Point on Ella Bay Road .
