The Mount Chinghee National Park (English: Mount Chinghee National Park ) is a national park in the extreme southeast of the Australian state of Queensland . It is 93 kilometers south of Brisbane , right on the border with New South Wales .

National nature

Mount Chinghee National Park connects to the west with Mount Barney , east with Lamington and south with the Border Ranges National Park in neighboring New South Wales . The Mount Chinghee is an ancient shield volcano and about 700 meters the highest point of the park.

Flora and fauna

The park's rainforests are part of the Gondwana Rainforests , which were registered as World Natural Heritage in 1986 and added to the Australian Natural Heritage List in 2007.

The area is also part of the Scenic Rim Important Bird Area , designated by BirdLife International for its importance in the conservation of various endangered bird species.

Facilities and access

Camping in the park is not permitted. The next campsites are south and west of the park on Running Creek .

Mount Chinghee National Park can be reached via the Mount Lindesay Highway . At Innisplain (21 kilometers south of Beaudesert ), turn east onto Running Creek Road and follow it about 20 kilometers south to almost the state border.
