The Maria Creek National Park (English: Maria Creek National Park ) is a national park in the northeast of the Australian state of Queensland .

location

It is 1,292 kilometers northwest of Brisbane and 30 kilometers south of Innisfail .

The national parks of Kurrimine Beach , Barnard Island Group and Clump Mountain are in the vicinity .

National nature

The small national park in the coastal plain between agricultural land is criss-crossed by Maria Creek in meanders . The stream flows into the coral sea south of Kurrimine Beach in an estuary . About 60 percent of the park is marshland.

Flora and fauna

The national park is overgrown with tropical rainforest.

It is part of the Coastal Wet Tropics Important Bird Area , which was designated by BirdLife International because of its importance for the conservation of the birds of the tropical coastal rainforest .

Facilities and access

Camping in the park is not permitted and there are no landscaped paths. There is a nearby camping facility at Kurrimine Beach Holiday Park .

The park is accessible from the Bruce Highway ( Kurrimine exit ). From there, turn east on Murdering Point Road and after 10 kilometers you will reach Kurrimine Beach . The national park is located at the southwest end of the settlement.
