The Mount Archer National Park (English: Mount Archer National Park ) is a national park in the east of the Australian state of Queensland . It is 522 kilometers northwest of Brisbane and directly northeast adjoining the urban area of Rockhampton . This is where the Queensland tropics begin .
National nature
The national park is located in the Berserker Ranges , the highest peak of which is Mount Archer with a height of 604 meters. The Moores Creek has dug deep into the mountains.
The national parks of Mount Etna Caves , Mount Jim Crow , Capricorn Coast and Rundle Range are in the vicinity .
Flora and fauna
The vegetation in the park consists mainly of light eucalyptus forest with occasional sprinkling of dry rainforest .
The forest thickhead ( Colluricincla megarhyncha ), the white- browed sericornis ( Sericornis frontalis ), the giant owl ( Ninox strictua ) and the brown-headed cockatoo are among the bird species that can be found in the park.
Facilities
Camping is not permitted in the park. A road leads to the top of Mount Archer where you can climb. There are several landscaped hiking trails and picnic areas in the park.
The national park is directly accessible from the Rockhampton road network.
