The Deer Reserve National Park (English Deer Reserve National Park ) is a 32.8 square kilometer national park in Queensland , Australia . The name comes from Queen Victoria back to 1873, the Queensland Government red deer (ger .: Deer ) gave, which then in a fenced area (ger .: Reserve , were taken), today's National Park.
location
It is located in the South East Queensland region about 65 kilometers northwest of Brisbane and 200 kilometers south of Hervey Bay . The closest city is Esk . From here the park can be reached via the Brisbane Valley Highway . About 4 kilometers to the north, Esk Kilcoy Road branches off towards Kilcoy . After 20 kilometers, at the level of the small town of Somerset Dam , you pass the national park. However, there are no visitor facilities there.
The national parks Esk , Bellthorpe and D'Aguilar are in the vicinity .
National nature
The Deer Reserve National Park covers the area around the 677 meter high Mount Brisbane, which rises 500 meters above the Stanley River and the reservoir Lake Somerset .

Open eucalyptus and rainforests grow , which are home to some endangered plants, e. B. Rusty Vine ( Marsdenia hemiptera ), Haloragis exalata , Plectranthus leiperi , Notelaea lloydii , Yellow Satinheart ( Bosistoa transversa ) and Hernandia bivalvis .
