The Japoon National Park (English: Japoon National Park ) is a national park in the northeast of the Australian state of Queensland .
location
It is located 1,306 km northwest of Brisbane , about 30 km north of Tully and about 30 km southwest of Innisfail .
The park connects to the Tully Gorge and Wooroonooran National Park to the east .
National nature
It is located on the northeastern roof of the Walter Hill Range . The terrain has heights of 100–600 m. The Japoon Creek flows off to the east .
Flora and fauna
Dense tropical rainforest covers the mountain slopes.
The park is part of the Wooroonooran Important Bird Area , which has been designated as such by BirdLife International because it provides a habitat for various bird species in the Wet Tropics of Queensland . These birds also include cassowaries , of which only 1,000–1,500 specimens exist in northern Queensland.
Driveway
The national park is accessible via Japoon Road ( Kurrimine exit of the Bruce Highway ). Japoonvale is 12 km west of the highway .
