The Crows Nest National Park (English Crows Nest National Park) is a national park in the Australian state of Queensland .

location

It is about 6 kilometers east of Crows Nest and 35 miles north of Toowoomba . It covers 18 square kilometers and was placed under protection in 1992.

General

After heavy rainfall, the water of the Crows-Nest-Creeks shoots through its rocky river bed before it plunges over 20 meters down the Crow-Nest waterfall into a basin surrounded by steep granite cliffs . This spectacular river landscape, the granite formations, the landscape-defining waterfall and the eucalyptus forests in the upper reaches of the creek and its surroundings are protected by the national park.

Flora and fauna

There are only a few areas with a similarly varied eucalyptus forest. Numerous tree species of this genus can be found in the park.

Notable species of animals that are native to the park include the platypus , swamp wallaby , the endangered brush-tailed rock kangaroo , Echidna , nosed monkey, and the great spotted monitor .

At bird species you can u. a. Watch the pale -headed rosella , gold-bellied flycatcher , South Sea warblers of the subfamily Acanthiza, yellow-bellied pighead and gray-chested pighead , red-necked honey-eaters and blue-eared honey-eaters as well as the white-fronted babbler .

Rest areas and camping facilities with simple equipment are available. There are also various hiking trails in the area of ​​varying degrees of difficulty.
