The Palmgrove National Park (English: Palmgrove National Park ) is a national park in the southeast of the Australian state of Queensland . It is 458 kilometers northwest of Brisbane and 185 kilometers north of Roma on the Fitzroy Developmental Road .
The park serves exclusively scientific purposes according to the Nature Conservation Act 1992 in the highest protection level and is not open to the public.
National nature
The park consists of dry, wild sandstone land.
Flora and fauna
The vegetation consists of light and dense eucalyptus and acacia forests , as well as subtropical rainforests . Ecosystems at risk include.
- Acacia harpophylla and Eucalyptus cambageana , light forest on fine-grain sedimentary rock soil.
- Acacia harpophylla and / or Casuarina cristata , light forest on fine-grain sedimentary rock soil.
- Macropteranthes leichhardtii , dense forest on fine-grain sedimentary rock soil.
- Mixed rainforest ( semi-evergreen vine thicket ) in a protected location on coarse and medium-grain sedimentary rock soil.
Miniature martens have been seen in the park.
Important Bird Area
The park was developed by BirdLife International for Important Bird Area declared (IBA) because (10 pairs) of the sensitive (ger .: it an isolated population vulnerable ) Schwarzbrust- running chicken ( Turnix melanogaster ) provides a habitat. This occurrence is the furthest to the west in Australia. There are also the brown-headed cockatoos, which are also classified as sensitive .
