The Rundle Range National Park (English Rundle Range National Park ) is a 21.7 square kilometer national park in Queensland , Australia . The 7.06 square kilometer Rundle Range Resources Reserve connects to the south and east .
location
The national park is located in the Mackay region about 470 kilometers northwest of Brisbane and 55 kilometers southeast of Rockhampton . It is an area in the delta of the Fitzroy River that is not directly connected to the sea .
The closest town is Gladstone . From here you can reach the park via the Bruce Highway north. At Ambrose you branch off onto the unpaved Darts Creek Road and after 15 kilometers you reach the national park. There are no visitor facilities in the park itself.
On the mainland in the vicinity are the national parks Dan Dan and Mount Archer , off the coast Curtis Island and Keppel Bay Islands .
National nature
The park is surrounded by Watt that in salt pans and mangrove passes between the estuary of the Fitzroy River and Curtis Iceland are. The ten kilometer long chain of hills of the Rundle Range rises here. Various plant communities can be found on their gentle slopes, including dry rainforest , eucalyptus- dominated forest and one of only two remaining occurrences of coastal Casuarina cristata communities.
Numerous bird species live in the park, including the endangered crested kite ( Lophoictinia isura ), brown-headed cockatoo ( Calyptorhynchus lathami ) and letter dove ( Geophaps scripta ). The mask monarch ( Monarcha melanopsis ) and the fox fan tail ( Rhipidura rufifrons ) can often be seen .
