The Blackbraes National Park (English: Blackbraes National Park ) is a national park in the northeast of the Australian state of Queensland .
There are two bioregions in the park and the adjacent state protected areas Moonstone Hill Reserve and Kennedy Road Gravel Reserve : Einsleigh Uplands and Gulf Plains .

It is located 1,265 km northwest of Brisbane , 170 kilometers north of Hughenden and 280 km west of Townsville .
Terrain forms
The hilly terrain inside the park is surrounded by basalt rock steps. In the about 850 meters high plateau there is black earth and in the rainy season there is also marshland, especially the Emu Swamp . The Moonstone Hill Reserve is an ancient volcanic crater that is also home to gemstones.
fauna
Above all, native water birds can be found in the park, especially around the emu swamp . Therefore it is popular with bird watchers.
climate
Because of its altitude, the plateau offers a cooler and more rainy climate than the surrounding, hot plains. In the dry season, daytime temperatures of up to 35 ° C are reached.
Facilities
Camping is allowed on the edge of Emu Swamp in the dry season from May to November , as the swamp has almost dried up during this time.
The national park can be reached via the Kennedy Developmental Road .
