The Mooloolah River National Park (English: Mooloolah River National Park ) is a national park in the southeast of the Australian state of Queensland .

It is 84 kilometers north of Brisbane and 7 kilometers south of Maroochydore .

The Sunshine Motorway (S70) runs through the northwest part of the park.

The national parks Eudlo Creek , Dularcha , Ferntree Creek and Mount Coolum are in the vicinity .

National nature

The park includes floodplains and gently rolling plains on the lower reaches of the Mooloolah River .

Flora and fauna

Coastal rainforest is the predominant form of vegetation in Mooloolah River National Park. In addition, ecologically important Wallum heathland is protected in the park . There is also a small population of the Emu Mountain Casuarina ( Allocasuarina emuina ).

Long-tailed fruit pigeons ( Ptilinopus magnificus ), gold-bellied flycatchers and Richmond Birdwing ( Ornithoptera richmondia ), a species of butterfly, can also be found in the park.

Facilities and access

Camping is not permitted in the national park and there are no hiking trails or other facilities. In November 1999 a management plan for the park was published.

The national park can be reached in ten minutes from Mooloolaba via the Sunshine Highway.
