The Dipperu National Park (English: Dipperu National Park ) is a national park in the east of the Australian state of Queensland .

The park is for scientific purposes only and is closed to the public.

It is located 754 kilometers northwest of Brisbane and 70 kilometers southwest of Mackay .

The national parks Homevale and Kelvin are in the vicinity .

Terrain forms

The park area is on a gently undulating plain that reaches heights of 160 to 185 meters. The most important watercourse is the Bee Creek on the western edge of the park, which belongs to the catchment area of ​​the Fitzroy River . There are also many small lakes and wetlands that are constantly filled with water.

Flora and fauna

The park protects the largest and least modified vegetation area of ​​the Brigalow Belt North bioregion . Tropical rainforests and extensive wetlands are typical of this region. There is also a large amount of eucalyptus woodland and acacia , as well as alluvial forest along Bee Creek . Three threatened or protected tree species are listed: Solanum adenophorum , Black Ironbox Eucalyptus ( Eucalyptus raveretiana ) and Macropteranthes leiocaulis .

Over 120 species of birds, including the brown-headed cockatoo ( Calyptorhynchus lathami ), 34 species of reptiles and nine species of amphibians are native to the park, which is an island in an otherwise dry plain that has been freed from natural vegetation.
