The Mount Colosseum National Park (English: Mount Colosseum National Park ) is a national park in the east of the Australian state of Queensland . It is 370 kilometers northwest of Brisbane , halfway between Gladstone and Bundaberg and 6 kilometers south of Miriam Vale .
National nature
The Mount Colosseum is an old lava dome dominates the skyline of the area. Its summit rises to 470 meters.
The national parks Dawes , Bulburin , Warro , Castle Tower and Eurimbula are in the vicinity .
flora
The summit of Mount Colosseum is sparsely overgrown with New Guinea araucarias . On the lower slopes of the mountain there is subtropical rainforest , which also contains eucalyptus trees of the genus Ironbark and Bloodwood .
Facilities and access
Camping in the park is not permitted. There are no hiking trails or other facilities for visitors. The visit is only recommended in the cooler months.
The park is west of the Bruce Highway on the Bundaberg-Gladstone railroad near the Makovata settlement . In Miriam Vale, turn off the highway to the southeast, direction Seventeen Seventy and follow the road for 6 kilometers. At the confluence, turn southwest and follow this road for another 5 kilometers to the entrance of the park.
