The Topaz Road National Park (English Topaz Road National Park ) is a 37.8 hectare national park in Queensland , Australia . It is part of the Wet Tropics of Queensland UNESCO World Heritage Site .

location

The park is located in the North Queensland region about 150 miles north of Townsville and 34 miles south of Cairns . The nearest town is Atherton , from here you can reach the park via Atherton Malanda Road , 5 kilometers south of Malanda a small road branches off to the east into the settlement of Topaz, after another 10 kilometers you pass the national park. There are no visitor facilities in the park itself.

The national parks Crater Lakes , Wooroonooran , Malaan and Herberton Range are in the vicinity .

Flora and fauna

The park protects a small patch of primary tropical rainforest . Despite the small size of 67 species of birds were here counted, including cuckooshrike how the monk tracked catcher ( Coracina tenuirostris ), the white-browed Lalage ( Lalage leucomela ), the black-faced cuckooshrike ( Coracina novaehollandiae ) and the strip tracked catcher ( Coracina lineata ) or from the family the monarch , the yellow-bellied flat beak ( Machaerirhynchus flaviventer ), the magpie monarch ( Arses kaupi ), the mask monarch ( Monarcha melanopsis ) and the spectacle monarch ( Monarcha trivirgatus ).
