The Ravensbourne National Park (English: Ravensbourne National Park ) is a national park in the southeast of the Australian state of Queensland . It is located 60 kilometers west of Brisbane and 33 kilometers west of Esk above the Lockyer Valley .

Flora and fauna

Small patches of rainforest and moist eucalyptus forest that used to completely cover this part of the Great Dividing Range have been preserved in the park. Rainforest with eucalyptus, piccabeen palm trees ( Archontophoenix cunninghamiana ), lianas , mushrooms and antler ferns ( Platycerium ) grows on red earth soils in the south and south-west of the park . A rather light eucalyptus forest grows on the sandy soils in the eastern part of the park.

More than 80 species of birds have been observed in the park, e.g. B. green foliage birds ( Ailuroedus crassirostris ) Lärmpittas ( Pitta versicolor ), Cinclosomatide ( Psphodes olivaceus ) or long-tailed fruit pigeons . Also crested pigeons , golden-bellied flycatchers , white- browed sericornis ( Sericornis frontalis ), gray fan-tails ( Rhipidura albiscapa ), black- breasted chicken ( Turnix melanogaster ), Banks cockatoos and brown-headed cockatoos .

Facilities and access

Camping is not permitted in the park, but there are plenty of short hiking trails and picnic areas.

Ravensbourne National Park is accessible from the New England Highway ( Hampton exit ). From there you drive 16 kilometers east to the park. The national park can also be reached from the Brisbane Valley Highway ( Esk exit ). From Esk you drive 33 kilometers to the west.
