The Eurimbula National Park (English: Eurimbula National Park ) is a national park in the east of the Australian state of Queensland .

location

It is 411 kilometers north of Brisbane and 60 kilometers southeast of Gladstone .

The park consists of three separate areas. The eastern and largest is near the coast on the banks of Eurimbula Creek . The western one is inland and is still very original and wild. The north includes the Rodds Peninsula and Bustard Head .

In the vicinity are the national parks Dawes , Mount Colosseum , Wild Cattle Island and Castle Tower .

flora

In the national park, mangrove forests at the mouth of Eurimbula Creek alternate with freshwater myrtle heather swamps, eucalyptus forests and rainforest . This mix is unique to the central Queensland coast.

Facilities

Most of the facilities are in the eastern part of the national park. There is a campsite at Bustard Beach and a short hiking trail has been laid out near the mouth of Eurimbula Creek that leads to the “Ganoonga-Noonga” lookout point. From there you have a good overview of the coast and the myrtle heather swamp in the park. A little further north, at Middle Creek, there is another campsite, but without any special equipment.

Driveway

The eastern part of the national park is accessible from Agnes Water Road by four-wheel drive vehicles. The western part, northeast of Miriam Vale , can only be hiked on foot. The northern part is best reached by boat.
