The Kelvin National Park (English Kelvin National Park ) is a 37.9 hectare national park in Queensland , Australia . A significantly larger part in the north and south of the national park only has the protection status of Forest Reserve .

location

The park is located in the Mackay area about 760 kilometers northwest of Brisbane and 47 kilometers south of Mackay . The closest city is Sarina . From here you pass the national park after about 15 kilometers on the Bruce Highway south. There are no roads, hiking trails or other visitor facilities there.

The national parks Homevale , Cape Palmerston , West Hill and Dipperu are in the vicinity .

Terrain forms

The Kelvin National Park is located in the up to 620 meter high Connors Range , which rises from the coastal plain. It forms a natural connection between the higher inland Sarina Range and the lowlands near the coast.

flora

The vegetation consists mainly of rainforest , which is home to numerous plants worthy of protection, such as Senna sulfurea from the genus Senna , Alangium villosum from the dogwood family and Jasminum didymum from the genus Jasminum .
