The Mudlo National Park (English Mudlo National Park ) is a 22 square kilometer national park in Queensland , Australia .
location
It is 180 kilometers north of Brisbane and 100 kilometers southwest of Hervey Bay . The park can be reached by turning north in Kilkivan towards Mudlo. After about 8.5 kilometers you will reach the visitor facilities at Scrubby Creek and a little later at Mudlo Gap . Further north is the much larger Grongah National Park . The area around Mudlo once attracted loggers and later copper and gold prospectors.
flora
In the national park, one of the last, untouched spots is protected with rainforest from New Guinea araucarias (English: Hoop Pines ). Before the Europeans came to Australia, they covered large parts of the coastal hills. These rainforests cover large parts of the park, the larger New Guinea araucarias, and occasionally Queensland araucarias, tower over the other tree tops. The rare large-leaved chain fruit ( Alyxia ruscifolia ) also thrives here . Open eucalyptus forest with ironbarks and forest red gum ( Eucalyptus tereticornis ) grow in the more exposed locations.
Facilities
There are two designated hiking trails and picnic areas in the park. Camping is prohibited in the park.
