The Bania National Park (English Bania National Park ) is a 331 square kilometer national park in Queensland , Australia .

location

It is located in the Wide Bay-Burnett region in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast about 315 km north of Brisbane and 205 km southeast of Rockhampton . The closest town is Mount Perry about 15 kilometers southeast of the national park. It can only be reached via unmarked forest roads and has no visitor facilities.

The national parks Nour-Nour , Bulburin , Dawes and Warro are in the vicinity .

Flora and fauna

The national park protects dry rainforest and open eucalyptus forest up to 510 meters high .

Many birds are at home here, the three-lined honeyeater ( Lichenostomus chrysops ), scarlet honeyeater ( Myzomela sanguinolenta ), spotted panther bird ( Pardalotus punctatus ) and the gray fan tail ( Rhipidura albiscapa ) are particularly common . There are also some endangered animals in the park, such as the tusked frog ( Adelotus brevis ), the brown-headed cockatoo ( Calyptorhynchus lathami ), the white- browed goshawk ( Accipiter novaehollandiae ) and the marble swallow ( Podargus ocellatus plumiferus ). The plant species Cycas megacarpa from the genus of sago palm ferns is already considered threatened .
