The Narkoola National Park (English Narkoola National Park ) is a 118 square kilometer national park in Queensland , Australia . In the south, bordering on another 22 square kilometers of protected area that currently are in the recovery phase of deforestation and agricultural use (English: Recovery ).

location

The national park is located in the South West region about 570 kilometers west of Brisbane and 160 kilometers east of Cunnamulla . The closest town is St. George , from here the park can be reached via the Balonne Highway heading west. After 110 kilometers you pass the small town of Bollon and after another 40 kilometers the highway runs about 10 kilometers along the northern border of the national park. There are no visitor facilities in the park itself.

The national parks Thrushton , Culgoa Floodplain , Binya and Currawinya are in the neighborhood .

Flora and fauna

The park protects the mulga shrub , which is widespread in the arid areas of Australia , but which has been largely cleared in southwest Queensland for sheep and cattle breeding. The park is home to three plant species that have been classified as worthy of protection, White Parsnip ( Trachymene ochracea ), Goodenia glabra and Sweet Quandong ( Santalum acuminatum ), a sandalwood plant .
