The Byfield National Park ( English Byfield National Park ) is a national park in the southeast of the Australian state of Queensland .
location
It is 60 kilometers northeast of Rockhampton on the Capricorn Coast . A small part of the park is separated from the rest on the southern bank of Corio Bay .
Terrain forms
In the southern part of the park, huge, parabolic sand dunes dominate the picture. The oldest are already five to six kilometers inland. The northern part is occupied by the peaks of The Peaks and Mount Atherton . The park is also famous for its long beaches.
Flora and fauna
Coastal heathland is typical of this national park. But there is also light eucalyptus forest . There you can see different species of migratory birds and other birds.
Facilities
There are hiking trails in the park. All-wheel drive vehicles are allowed to drive on the beach at marked points. Camping is allowed in three places in the park.
Driveway
The national park can only be reached from Yeppoon via a 41-kilometer back road . The use of an all-wheel drive vehicle is recommended. In rainy weather this road can be impassable. The beaches can also be reached by boat from the sea.
