The Kinrara National Park (English Kinrara National Park ) is a 75 square kilometer national park in the Australian state of Queensland .

location

The park is located 150 kilometers southwest of Innisfail and 230 kilometers northwest of Charters Towers at the height of Hinchinbrook Island and about 150 kilometers from the coast. There are no access roads or visitor facilities.

National nature

Like the better known Undara Volcanic National Park , Kinrara National Park is located in the McBride Volcanic Province . Its geological formations date back to volcanic activity 7.8 million to 2.7 million years ago. The more than 700 meter high Kinrara volcano in the northern part of the park is the youngest in McBride Province, it goes back to an eruption 20,000 to 50,000 years ago. The crater is up to 60 meters deep, has a diameter of 400 meters and is made of basenite .
