Ingham is a place in the Australian state of Queensland with almost 5000 inhabitants. Ingham is located on the Australian east coast on the Bruce Highway , 100 km northeast of Townsville and 140 km south of Innisfail . It is the seat of the local administrative area (LGA) Hinchinbrook Shire Council .

Ingham has a north Australian monsoon climate . In the months of December to February, temperatures reach peaks with mean maxima of up to 32.5 ° C and mean minima of not below 23.2 ° C. July is not only the least rainy month, but also the coldest month with mean maxima of 24.9 ° C and mean minima of 13.7 ° C. The rainiest month is February.

On the night of February 2nd to 3rd, 2011, the storm center of Cyclone Yasi passed close to the city, but in contrast to the severe destruction in the northern towns of Cardwell and Tully , Ingham got off relatively lightly.
