Hans Proesler (born December 30, 1888 in Frankfurt am Main , † November 29, 1956 in Munich ) was a German historian and sociologist.

After studying English, history, philosophy and economics, Proesler was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD . From 1922 he was a lecturer at the Nuremberg Commercial College , which he headed from 1928 to 1930 as rector. Under the National Socialist rule, his license to teach was revoked from 1934 to 1945 . In 1946 he first worked as a lecturer at the University of Munich , but was soon reinstated as a professor at the Nuremberg Commercial College. The second rectorate followed from 1947 to 1952.

Proesler tried to systematize the social sciences, as the foundation of which he considered general sociology. All other social science disciplines are either special or auxiliary disciplines. Social history , which was not yet established as an academic subject at the time of his career , provides important auxiliary services .
