The Swain Reefs National Park (English: Swain Reefs National Park ) is a national park in the east of the Australian state of Queensland and in the southern part of the Great Barrier Reef . It is 703 kilometers north of Brisbane , 220 kilometers off the coast of Rockhampton .
National nature
The national park consists of small cays , which together have a land area of 58 hectares and were designated as a national park in 1995.
fauna
Nine of these islands with a total area of 9 hectares form the '' Swain Reef Important Bird Area '', which was designated by BirdLife International because more than 1% of the worldwide occurrence of the rose tern breed there. A total of 25,000 of this species have been counted on the islands. There are also masks , and brown booby , Silver head seagull , Schwarznacken- , soot , chinstrap , express , Rüppell- and little tern , black ( Anous minutus ) and brown Noddis ( Anous stolidus ) and Arielfregattvögel .
