The Tregole National Park (English: Tregole National Park ) is a national park in the south of the Australian state of Queensland . It is 603 kilometers west of Brisbane and 10 kilometers south of Morven near the much larger Chesterton Range National Park .

The park at the southern end of the Chesterton Range lies at the junction of the Brigalow Biosphere and the Mulga Biosphere and is a good example of a semi-arid ecosystem.

Before it was designated as a national park in 1975, the area was used as grazing land.

flora

In the park there are the Cadellia trees , a genus of Surianacea , almost in pure culture. This delicate tree species is not normally found in such hot and dry climates.

In addition, there grows on the hills Mulga and in the lowlands light poplar box - eucalyptus forests ( Eucalyptus populnea ). Brigalow - acacia can be found on heavy clay soils and the rolling plains are with Mitchellgras covered.

Facilities and access

Camping is not permitted in the park. However , there is a picnic area on the road from Morven to Bollon . A 2.1 kilometer long, laid out circular hiking trail begins there, on which the plants are marked with signs.

Tregole National Park can be reached on the Warrego Highway (Morven exit). From there a narrow, paved road leads to the picnic area in the park.
