The Goodedulla National Park (English: Goodedulla National Park ) is a national park in the east of the Australian state of Queensland . The national park was formed from two previous grazing areas, Rockwood and Boomer .

location

It is 573 kilometers northwest of Brisbane and 75 kilometers west of Rockhampton in the northern part of the Boomer Range .

The Taunton , Mount Etna Caves , Mount O'Connell and Junee National Parks are in the vicinity .

National nature

The park area consists of a mixture of granite , acidic volcanic rock and sediments from the Permian . It is in the Melaleuca Creek basin , where creeks that carry water only part of the year meander through the gently rolling terrain .

Flora and fauna

The area is covered with rainforest and rosewood forests.

A rich bird life can be observed. There are also giant gray kangaroos and Echidna to see.

Facilities and access

There are three campsites in the national park, Wadlow Yards, Kings Dam and The Palms , but they have no special facilities. The paths and unpaved roads can be hiked or driven on with off-road vehicles.

The park can only be reached from the south via a dirt road that branches off the Capricorn Highway to the north in Godango . The path to the national park leads past the old Rockwood Station . In heavy rain, the road, which should only be used with four-wheel drive vehicles, can be impassable.
