The Snake Range National Park (English Snake Range National Park ) is a 26.9 square kilometer national park in Queensland , Australia .

location

It is located in the Fitzroy region about 660 kilometers northwest of Brisbane and 310 kilometers west of Rockhampton . The closest city is Emerald . From here the park can be reached via the Gregory Highway to Springsure and further west on the Dawson Developmental Road . After about 26 kilometers you can reach the park via an unpaved track to the northwest. There are no visitor facilities there.

The national parks Minerva Hills , Albinia and Carnarvon are in the vicinity .

Flora and fauna

The park protects up to 580 meters high, dry eucalyptus forest on the hill chain of the Snake Range .

The endangered golden-tailed geckos ( Strophurus taenicauda ) from the family of the double -fingered geckos , as well as the also endangered Acacia pubicosta from the family of the mimosa, are native here.
