The Einasleigh River is a river in the north of the Australian state of Queensland .

River course

The river has its source near Oak Valley in Blackbraes National Park , on the northern slopes of the Montgomery Range , which is part of the Great Dividing Range . From there it flows in a wide arc around the city of Georgetown , first to the north, then to the northwest and finally to the west. In its upper reaches, the Einasleigh River runs parallel to the Kennedy Developmental Road north to Lyndhurst . At Carpentaria Downs it crosses under the Gregory Developmental Road and again at Einasleigh . At Eveleigh it crosses the Savannah Way (also: Gulf Developmental Road ) and then flows through completely undeveloped area towards the east coast of the Gulf of Carpentaria . Approx. 50 km east of Miranda Downs it flows into the Gilbert River .
