The end of Gulf Developmental Road is south of Normanton on the Gulf of Carpentaria . Here it meets the Burke Developmental Road , which continues north from Cloncurry in the south. A few kilometers north, before Normanton, the Great Top Road branches off as a continuation of the route to Burketown and further into the Northern Territory to the west.
