Today's Mackay Region was created in 2008 from the City of Mackay and the two Shires Mirani and Sarina.
administration
The Mackay Regional Council has eleven members. The Mayor (mayor) and ten other Councilors are elected by all residents of the region. The LGA is not divided into electoral districts.
