Beaudesert is a town in southeast Queensland ( Australia ). Beaudesert is located on the Mount Lindesay Highway about 60 km south of Brisbane and about 40 km west of the Pacific Ocean. The village is on the Logan River . In 1842 a cattle ranch called Beaudesert was founded on the banks of this river, from which the village of Beaudesert developed over the years. The cattle farm was named after the place Beaudesert in Staffordshire . In 2016, Beaudesert had 5,834 inhabitants.
In Beaudesert there are still numerous historical buildings that go back more than 150 years and prove the former and still great importance of cattle farming in the region.
The region around Beaudesert is best known for its numerous national parks (e.g. Lamington National Park ) with untouched rainforests. In addition, Beaudesert is now a stronghold of horse breeding and for horse lovers.
In 1863, Queensland's first cotton plantation was opened near Beaudesert. For this, South Sea islanders in particular were hired as workers. Today, dairy farming , pig farming , the cultivation of fruits and alfalfa , the cultivation of maize and the cultivation of pumpkins play an important role in Beaudesert and the surrounding area . Numerous meat processing companies and dairies are based in Beaudesert today.
