Audra Lindley
Audra Marie Lindley (born September 24, 1918 in Los Angeles , California , † October 16, 1997 ) was an American film , theater and television actress .
Life
Audra Lindlay was born in Los Angeles. Her parents were both active in show business, and so her career in Hollywood began at a young age. When she was in her mid twenties, she moved to New York City , where she worked as a theater actress and appeared in many Broadway performances. After that, she first took time off to get married and start a family. When she took up acting again, she played mostly in television series, mostly sitcoms and soap operas . There she was able to make a name for herself as a long-time actress of various characters.
Private
Lindlay died on October 16, 1997 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles of leukemia .
From 1943 to 1960 she was married to Hardy Ulm, with whom she had five children. In 1972 she married her fellow actor James Whitmore , from whom she divorced in 1979.
