action
Leonard "Lenny" Cantrow marries Lila Kolodny. He's finally allowed to have sex with her after they just cuddled. But already on the trip to Miami Beach for his honeymoon , he noticed more and more annoying qualities in purple and he felt increasingly repulsed by her. The first conflicts arise and Lenny withdraws more and more angrily. On the beach, he meets the blonde Kelly who he likes and flirts with him. When Lila retires to her room because of a severe sunburn , he is all the happier when he meets Kelly again at the hotel bar. They arrange to meet up the next morning to sunbathe, where Kelly is still fond of him, even after Lenny confesses to her that he made a big mistake with his marriage. After they both do a magic show and a boat trip together, Lenny decides to part with Lila. So he confesses to her when they go to a restaurant together that the marriage is over and he accepts any divorce agreement.
However, Lenny's meeting with Kelly's parents was not as smooth as the divorce. Mr. Corcoran had already berated Lenny in Miami and threatened him if he ever got too close to his daughter. Now in Minneapolis , he is no less aggressive when Lenny rings the doorbell. But Lenny doesn't give up and see Kelly at the university, but she doesn't want to know anything more about him. After Lenny shows insistence, he manages to kiss her and spend two evenings with her, where they sleep together. When Lenny stands in front of Mr. Corcoran again and asks for his daughter's hand, the father is so skeptical that he offers Lenny more and more money so that he can leave his daughter alone. But he doesn't want the money, only Kelly, which is why he rejects every offer. And so Lenny finally manages to marry his dream woman Kelly.
criticism
"Boring comedy."
“ [Changing Horses on Wedding Night] is a top American comedy that's as startling as The Graduation . It is a film that has mastered the art of combining the cruelty and automatism of a Neil Simon comedy with the meaning and sensuality of F. Scott Fitzgerald in a wonderful and very peculiar way. "
