National Society of Film Critics Award / Best Supporting Actor
Winner of the National Society of Film Critics in the category Best Supporting Actor (Best Supporting Actor) . The awards are presented every year at the beginning of January for the best film productions and filmmakers of the past calendar year. In 1975 and 1977 there were two awards ceremonies in January and December, after which the National Society of Film Critics Award in 1976 and 1978 was not awarded.
The most successful in this category were the American actors Gene Hackman and Jack Nicholson , who each won the award twice. The film critics association was able to present the Oscar winner eleven times in advance, most recently in 2020 when the American Brad Pitt ( Once Upon a Time in Hollywood ) was able to enter the list of winners. In 2010, Christoph Waltz ( Inglourious Basterds ) was the first actor from German-speaking countries to prevail.
At the last award ceremony in 2020, Brad Pitt (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) won 34 points over Joe Pesci ( The Irishman , 30 points) as well as Wesley Snipes ( Dolemite Is My Name , 18 points) and Song Kang- ho ( Parasite , 18 points).
