Art Metrano
Arthur "Art" Metrano (born September 22, 1936 in Brooklyn , New York City , New York , † September 8, 2021 in Aventura , Florida ) was an American actor . He was best known for his role as Captain Mauser in the films Police Academy 2 and Police Academy 3 . Metrano was also known for its mixture of magic and comedy, with which he celebrated great success since the early 1970s.
Life
In the early 1970s he appeared on Johnny Carson's The Tonight Show , performing absurd magic tricks. In the 1980s he played in the second and third part of the Police Academy film series, in which he embodied the character of the evil to sometimes sadistic police instructor Lieutenant, Captain and Commandant Mauser. In 1989, Metrano fell off a ladder while roofing his Los Angeles home and broke several vertebrae. From then on he was paraplegic . He died on September 8, 2021 at the age of 84 at his home in Aventura.
