Enrico Montesano (born June 7, 1945 in Rome ) is an Italian actor and singer .

Life

Montesano comes from a family of artists (his great-grandfather founded an operetta ensemble, his grandfather was a well-known conductor). The graduate geodesist worked in his profession for three years before making his debut as an impersonator alongside Vittorio Metz in 1966 on cabaret stages (such as in the famous “Il Puff”) and in the play Humor nero . In 1968 the first commitment to television followed: The program Che domenica, amici was created under the direction of Castellano & Pipolo and established Montesano as a comedian, who from now on appeared in numerous programs, but also continued on the stage (such as in "Il Bagaglino") next to Gabriella Ferri ) was seen. In 1977 he won the Golden Rose of Montreux for the Quantunque io format .

As early as 1967 he had started with the first smaller roles for the cinema; over the years - especially from 1976, when he had great success in Horse Fever - numerous comedies with Montesano in a leading role were created. Outstanding were three films in 1979 and 1980 with director Pasquale Festa Campanile , each of which was awarded a David di Donatello ; Montesano received the award for the best actor twice, and its director was once successful. He received further awards for his own production A me mi piace 1985; in the same year he was involved in the box office success of the year in Italy with his portrayal in I due carabinieri .

Again and again, Montesano took longer breaks from film and television to devote himself to stage work. In 1978 he was seen in Garinei & Giovannini's Rugantino alongside Alida Chelli and Aldo Fabrizi ; 1990/1991 in the same authors Cercasi tenore and in Beati voti between 1992 and 1994, for which representation he won the Maschera the prize of the “Istituto del Dramma Italiana” for the second time (he had received the first for Rugantino in 1978). Between 2001 and 2003 he played in Malgrado tutto beati voi ; after a few other pieces, 2010/2011 Buon Compleanno was a review of the 45 years of his own career.

Over the years Montesano has also released four long-playing records and numerous singles; often with songs for children.

Politically, he was in the 1970s for the PSI and in the 1990s for the Democratici di Sinistra , for which he sat in the European Parliament from July 1994 to November 1996 . In the 2000s, however, Montesano, who describes himself as a “libertarian socialist”, sympathized with the center-right parties Alleanza Nazionale and Popolo della Libertà and has recently been active for the Movimento Libertario .
