Javier Márquez Moreno (born May 11, 1986 in Barcelona ), better known as Javi Márquez , is a Spanish football player .

Club career

Espanyol Barcelona

Javi Márquez comes from the youth department of Espanyol Barcelona , the second largest club in his Catalan hometown. There he not only played in the youth teams, but from 2005 to 2009 and for the second team of the men in the Segunda División B . On September 19, 2009, the midfielder made his debut for the first team when he came on for Ben Sahar in the 3-2 away win over Deportivo La Coruña in the 64th minute . Marquez then established himself in the first team and was a regular player. The 2009/10 season should end prematurely for him because he broke his tibia on March 20, 2010 in a 2-0 home win over Sevilla FC . In the Primera División he always played with Espanyol Barcelona in midfield of the league.

RCD Mallorca

In July 2012, he signed a contract with league rivals RCD Mallorca , while Sergio Tejera moved to Espanyol in return. On the first day of the 2012/13 season he met his old club from Barcelona and was able to defeat them 2-1 with his new team. Just one month later, in a 2-0 home win over Valencia CF , he contracted an ankle fracture again, which meant that he was out for several months due to an injury last season. For the 2013/14 season he was awarded to FC Elche .

Granada CF.

Following the loan to Elche, Marques was sold to Granada CF. Here he played continuously until February 2017 and played a total of 51 games for the club.

New York Cosmos

In the 2017 game year he started for the second division New York Cosmos in the USA and played the NASL Fall and Spring Championships as well as the play-offs with the club .

Gimnàstic de Tarragona

The return to Spain followed in January 2018. He moved to Gimnàstic de Tarragona in the Segunda División on a free transfer .
