Series A 1978/79

The Serie A 1979/80 was the 48th season in the top Italian football -Spielklasse of Lords. It began on September 16, 1979 and ended on May 11, 1980. Udinese Calcio , Cagliari Calcio and Pescara Calcio from Serie B were promoted.

Inter Milan ended the season as champions and became AC Milan’s successor. Inter qualified for the European Cup . Juventus Turin and Torino Calcio qualified for the UEFA Cup . AS Roma secured participation in the European Cup Winners' Cup of the following year through Coppa Italia . Pescara, AC Milan and Lazio Rome had to relegate to Serie B as a result of a bribery scandal in 1980.
