Danville is surrounded by Greer in the northeast, Gann in the east and Howard in the southwest.
history
Danville was founded in 1813 and named after Daniel Sapp, a soldier in the British-American War in 1812. It later merged with the settlements of Rosstown (Rossville) and Buckeye City. Danville owns the second oldest Catholic church in Ohio.

Danville is called "The Gateway to Amish Country". This is where the Kokosing Gap Trail and the Mohican Valley Trail begin, which stretches across the Mohican River to the Bridge of Dreams in Brinkhaven (Gann) .
