Lorain is a city in Lorain County , Ohio, United States . Lorain has 64,097 inhabitants (2010) on an area of ​​62.8 km². The city is located at the confluence of the Black River with Lake Erie west of Cleveland . It belongs to the metropolitan area of Cleveland Lorain- Elyra .

history

The settlement was initially called the Mouth of Black River and was founded in 1807 under the name Charleston . In 1874 the city was named Lorain after the county in which it was located.

economy

In Lorain there was a Ford Motor Company , where the Ford E-series was built. Production stopped on December 14, 2005.
