The Washington County is a county in the US state of Pennsylvania . At the 2010 census , the county had 207,820 people and a population density of 93.6 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Washington .
Washington County is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area .
geography
The county is located in southwest Pennsylvania and borders West Virginia to the west . To the east it is bounded by the Monongahela River , one of the two headwaters of the Ohio River . Washington County covers an area of 2,230 square kilometers, of which 10 square kilometers are water. It borders on the following counties:

Washington County was formed from Westmoreland County on March 28, 1781 . It was named after George Washington (1732–1799), the first President of the United States (1789–1797).
Four places in the county have National Historic Landmark status . 95 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of July 25, 2018).
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census , Washington County had 207,820 people in 83,608 households. The population density was 93.6 inhabitants per square kilometer.
The racial the population was composed of 94.1 percent white, 3.3 percent African American, 0.1 percent Native American, 0.6 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.5 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 1.1 percent of the population.
Statistically, there were 2.40 people each in the 83,608 households.
20.5 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 62.0 percent were between 18 and 64 and 17.5 percent were 65 years or older. 51.4 percent of the population was female.
