Lycoming County is a county in the US state of Pennsylvania in the United States . At the 2000 census , the county had 120,044 people and a population density of 38 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Williamsport .
history
Traces of ancient American settlement can be found in the Canfield Island Site .
The county was formed on April 13, 1795 and named after Lycoming Creek , a tributary of the Susquehanna River .
