With Keystone Foods one of the largest food producers in the county is located.
Montgomery County is part of the Delaware Valley metropolitan area .

The county is located in southeast Pennsylvania in the northwest suburb of the city of Philadelphia . Montgomery County covers an area of 1,262 square kilometers, of which 11 square kilometers are water. It borders on the following counties:

history
Montgomery County was formed on September 10, 1784 on the territory of Philadelphia County. The background of the name is not completely clear: it may go back to Richard Montgomery (1736–1775), a general in the Continental Army in the American Revolutionary War , or to the officer and settler John Montgomery (1748–1794). The name of the county may also refer to the Welsh county of Montgomeryshire .
Five places in the county have National Historic Landmark status . 146 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of July 24, 2018).

The racial the population was composed of 81.1 percent white, 8.7 percent African American, 0.1 percent Native American, 6.4 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.9 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 4.3 percent of the population.
Statistically, 2.51 people lived in each of the 298,326 households.
22.7 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 62.3 percent were between 19 and 64 and 15.0 percent were 65 years or older. 51.3 percent of the population was female.
