Tioga County is a county in the state of Pennsylvania in the United States . At the 2000 census , the county had 41,373 people and a population density of 14 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Wellsboro .

history

The county was formed on March 26, 1804 from Lycoming County and named after the Tioga River . The final organization of the district took place on January 11, 1813.

Ten buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of July 25, 2018).
