Montour County is a county in the state of Pennsylvania in the United States . At the 2000 census , the county had 18,236 people and a population density of 54 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Danville .

history

The county was formed on May 3, 1850. The name goes back to the Iroquois interpreter Catherine Montour (1686–1752).

The General William Montgomery House is one of six entries for the county in the NRHP.

Six buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of July 24, 2018).
