King of Prussia ("King of Prussia") is a census-designated place in Montgomery County in the southeast of the US state Pennsylvania with 18,511 inhabitants (as of 2000). The place belongs to the Upper Merion Township , about thirty kilometers northwest of Philadelphia .

Its name is derived from an inn, which in turn was named after Frederick the Great , King of Prussia . With the King of Prussia Mall, the place owns the largest shopping center on the east coast in terms of sales area.

The Valley Forge National Park, where George Washington camped with his army in the winter of 1777/78, is one of the sights . The training of the troops, in which Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben played a major role, is one of the decisive factors for victory in the American War of Independence .

The software company eBay Enterprise and the pharmaceutical company CSL Behring are based in King of Prussia.

Tennis player Ann Li (* 2000) was born in King of Prussia.
