The Miami RedHawks (formerly the Miami Redskins before 1996) are the sports teams of Miami University . The 18 different sports teams compete in the NCAA Division I as a member of the Mid-American Conference in the East Division, with the exception of the ice hockey team, which competes in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference .
