Dustin Whitecotton (born May 3, 1979 in Cherryville , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey coach and former player.

Career

Whitecotton played at college in the Miami University team from Ohio, for which he participated in the NCAA game operations . In the 2000/01 season, the center was in the East Coast Hockey League for the Mississippi Sea Wolves on the ice, in the next two years he was active for the Missouri River Otters in the United Hockey League . In addition, the left shooter completed several games in the AHL for the Rochester Americans , the Grand Rapids Griffins and the Lowell Lock Monsters .

For the 2003/04 season , the attacker moved to Germany and joined the 1. EV Weiden in the 2. Bundesliga . A year later Whitecotton signed a contract with league competitor SERC Wild Wings from Schwenningen. The Canadian played there for a total of four years and formed a successful storm duo together with the native Czech Dušan Frosch . In 2008 Whitecotton switched to the Straubing Tigers , where he played in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) for five years .

In 2013 he joined the Belfast Giants from the British Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) and won the championship title with the club in the 2013/14 season. The following season he returned to Germany and ran for the top division Deggendorfer SC .

After the 2015/16 season, in which he played for the Dragons de Rouen in France, he ended his playing career.

Trainer

In July 2016, Whitecotton was introduced as the head coach of the German upper division EV Lindau .

From 2018 to April 2019 he was youth coach and player coach (in the 1st team) at EV Dingolfing in the Bavarian regional league.
