Mack Yoho (born June 14, 1936 in Reader , West Virginia ) is a retired American Canadian football and American football player. He played as a defensive end and placekicker in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Ottawa Rough Riders and in the American Football League (AFL) with the Buffalo Bills .

Player career

College career

Mack Yoho was born in West Virginia but grew up near Canton , Ohio . Yoho played basketball and football in high school . After graduating from high school, Yoho received a basketball scholarship from Miami University . However, he never played basketball there, but was only active for the football team of his college , the Miami RedHawks . In 1955 and 1957 he won the championship in the Mid-American Conference with the RedHawks . In 1957, he was elected to both the league selection and the state selection of Ohio for his athletic achievements.

Professional career

Immediately after graduating, Yoho joined the Ottawa Rough Riders from the CFL before the 1958 season. From the team from Ottawa he was used in various positions, both in defense and offense . In the playing years 1958 and 1959 he was able to move into the play-offs with the Rough Riders . However, he did not succeed in winning the title. In 1960 he received from the Buffalo Bills , who played in the newly formed AFL, a contract offer with an annual salary of 7,500 US dollars . Yoho signed the contract and received mostly working time as a defensive end from his head coach Buster Ramsey . Ramsey also used Yoho as the team's kicker. In 1963, Mack Yoho was able to move into the play-offs with the Bills, but where they failed at the Boston Patriots in the division play-off game with 26: 9. Yoho was handed over to the Patriots after that season, but retired early. Mack Yoho was inducted into the Miami University Hall of Fame in 2010 .
